For best-built practices, we include the following recommendations:
- Installation of sump pumps with battery back up and high-water sensor alarms
- Placing non-combustible cement board below all prefab hearth units to mitigate voids between the hearth and firebox that can be a fire hazard
- The use of:
- Cement backer board under all ceramic tile, stone or marble floor systems
- Top-quality Hem Fir for framing lumber and SPF for all plates, blocking and nailers
- 5/8 inch CDX Fir as roof sheathing for increased durability and structural benefits
- Stainless steel fasteners at areas exposed to weather or in contact with the ground
- The "back-priming" of all exterior wood trim materials to aid in rot prevention and moisture absorption
- Installation of ice and weather sheilds on all crickets, valleys and eaves of the roofing system
- An independent third-party testing lab to perform onsite visual inspection of all structural steel welds and bolt connections for compliance with industry standards
- An independent, third-party lab to test concrete samples used at every job site to assure quality
- Conducting pre- and post-construction termite treatment
